The Customer Relations Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible to develop, implement and manage a comprehensive communication strategy for Facilities Services (FS); supports marketing and communication strategies and initiatives internal to Facilities Services and to the campus community. Executes organizational requests related to communication programs: written, print, web, visual, digital and electronic communications. Coordinates market research and strategic message development to communicate the delivery of a customer experience that is responsive, engaging and adaptable for all members of the campus community by Facilities Services. Facilities Services is one of the largest departments at UC Riverside employing nearly 400 career employees. Facilities Services provides exceptional service in maintaining an environment conducive of teaching, learning, living, working and research for the entire campus community. The department maintains buildings, facilities and landscape totaling over 6 million square feet across 1,350 acres of campus. Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.
Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and/or broad general audiences.
Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans.
Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
General knowledge of marketing, advertising and communication strategies, principles and concepts.
Ability to establish and maintain exceptional client relations and partnerships. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, internal and external constituents and agencies.
Solid organizational, project management and time management skills; ability to multi-task with an attention to detail and results driven to deliver on demanding timeframes.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Ability to use sound judgement in responding to issues and concerns.
Solid analytical, active listening, critical thinking and service orientation skills.
Ability to function as a resource by providing excellent customer service, researching customer relations discrepancies, and resolving escalated customer service problems and vendor, partners, and Facilities' Services staff concerns.
Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and/or health sciences.
Familiarity with Facilities Services nomenclature/ work environment including maintenance, construction, custodial, landscape and/or building operations.
Skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support student staff.
