Required Qualifications:

  • Job Requirements - Applicant should address each requirement, as applicable, to be considered for the position.
  • Experience working with medium voltage, distribution voltage, or voltages greater than 601 volts.
  • Experience using test equipment and other specialized tools. i.e. voltmeters, locator, termination tools or hot stick.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices or procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical distribution systems.
  • Interpret and explain electrical system one lines, diagrams, drawings or schematics

    Job Description:
    To perform journey-level skills and expertise in servicing electrical power distribution systems. Responsible for journey-level installation, maintenance, and evaluation of all equipment related to electrical distribution systems. Installs, maintains, repairs, and modifies 12Kv, 5Kv, and 480v metal enclosed and metal-clad switchgear, underground and overhead facilities, cabling systems, lighting systems, and emergency systems. Assists in cable installation, re-lamping, duct bank installation, and manhole maintenance. Maintain records of work performed. Works in conjunction with trades or craft personnel in support of systems within power plant, chilling stations, utility tunnels or other underground utilities. Completes work orders using automated maintenance program systems. Cleans and maintains all equipment and work areas. Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems or deficiencies and takes appropriate, action. Identifies and reports safety hazards. Supervises compliance with standards of workmanship and safety. Performs related duties as assigned. May attend staff meetings. Attends safety training or meetings. Attends plant operation and maintenance training courses. Assists with estimates of time and materials required for a job. Reviews and evaluates submittal drawings of equipment. Climbs high structures for servicing lights. May train personnel on operational and maintenance procedures as required

    Job Duties:
  • The calibration, installation, modification, maintenance and repair of distribution electrical systems and equipment.
  • Complete work orders using automated maintenance program systems.
  • Execute the preventative maintenance (PM) program.
  • Provide details to maintain current one-line electrical diagrams, feeder circuit, switches and transformer information.
  • Maintain maintenance and operation documentation electronically.
  • Perform effective method for repairs and correcting deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Support electrical system maintenance on standby generators, ATS and thermal plant systems.
  • Operation of industrial digital relays for main service entrance switchgear.
  • Assist or respond to after-hour call outs.
  • Review construction plans and projects regarding electrical AC supply, Automatic Transfer Switches and backup/life safety generators.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), NFPA 70e requirements, standards of workmanship and safety.
  • Remain current on best practices and recommend change to operating procedures, new equipment and related systems.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces such as manholes, tunnels, or trenches.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
