Cryogenic Controls Engineer 

Position Summary

Responsibilities

Communicate regularly with all cryogenic operators and the cryogenic controls team; Use Allen Bradley ControlLogix, GuardLogix, Compact GuardLogix PLC’s, interface with and AutoCad Electrical; Perform preventive maintenance, repair and parts management for assigned equipment; Keep consistent accurate records of maintenance or calibration tasks and results; indicate areas of improvement, with noticeably lower failure rates; Maintain an accurate and factual documentation of developing processes; Independently find means to improve productivity and implement alternative methods; Fabricate and install and/or manage the fabrication and installation of electronic systems as required; Determine ways to optimize logic or systems without making overly complex; Foresee any potential problem areas and notifies line manager; Continually strive to improve productivity, quality, and uniformity; Assist in generating electronic documentation and insures that documents are available, up-to-date, and complete for all assigned equipment

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired by completing a four-year college program in Systems or Computer Science; or Engineering or Physics, with coursework in Systems or Computer Science; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in electronics, mechanical and/or electrical drafting and fabrication techniques, or computer programming in one or more languages used by the NSCL; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
