Clinical Faculty and Program Director, School Counseling Program
POSITION: Full-time (may consider part-time), with clinical faculty rank; non-continuing status track; 11-month faculty appointment in the School of Education.
STARTING DATE: July 1, 2018 or as soon as a suitable candidate is discerned.
The Pupil Personnel Services program at Fresno Pacific University offers, School Counseling, School Psychology credential and Masters’ Degree programs. Additionally, the program offers an approved program for Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). The Program graduates are well prepared and highly desired in the educational community in California's Central Valley.
ROLE: The Program Director for the FPU School Counseling Program teaches in the program and provides administrative leadership for the program at the FPU North Campus and at the Visalia Campus. Specific duties include:
- Work with the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) directors, faculty and staff in Counseling and School Psychology at all FPU campuses;
- Attend all program director, and other required meetings;
- Teach appropriate courses, supervise candidates in the field placements, and advise PPSprogram students;
- Support planning and development, outreach, and recruitment of students;
- Assume administrative responsibility and manage the budget for thePPS programs at the Visalia and North Fresno Campuses;
- Support (by offering advice and consultation) marketing and public relations initiatives for the program,
- Monitor syllabi content and program cohesion for all PPS courses;
- Monitor candidate Research Projects and Exit Portfolio development;
- Develop and sustain relationships with local schools and other educational agencies to foster high quality fieldwork placements and building school partnerships;
- Maintain an understanding of changes in state and federal legislation that affect the program; attend state conferences that update trends and pendinglegislation;
- Represent the program to the internal and external communities, e.g. California Teacher Credentialing (CTC), WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), other Federal and State regulatory agencies, internship sites, and professional associations;
- Maintain professional memberships and professional development.
In consultation with Division Chair:
- Oversee admission of candidates to the PPS programs at the sites;
- Recruit, support, and work with adjunct teachingand supervising faculty;
- Lead the academics activities of the faculty within the program and monitor the performance of the program, in conjunction with the Dean of the School of Education;
- Initiate recommendations regarding program planning, course scheduling, and faculty assignments with the program, in conjunction with the Dean of the School of Education.
- Master’s degree in counseling;
- Successful school counseling and leadership experience;
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds;
- Current knowledge of state certification regulations, including knowledge of practicum and internship requirements including the selection of permissible sites for practicum and internship training;
- Experience and sensitivity in managing people in complex organizational settings;
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills and decision-making skills;
- Administrative experience managing PPS programs for working adults;
- Experience with the development of extensive networks and connections with external stakeholders;
- Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church.
- Earned terminal degree in Counseling or Education;
- Current credentialed School Counselor, Director of Guidance K-12 and/or Guidance Counselor K-12 licenses in the State of California;
- Member of California Association of School Psychologists and/or California School Counselors Association, and American School Counselors Association;
- Membership in a Mennonite Brethren or Anabaptist congregation.

COMPENSATION (for full-time): Dependent on qualifications and experience, and paid out over 12 months. Full-time benefits include insurance (medical, vision, dental, LTD), retirement (TIAA-CREF), Section 125 options.
