Assistant Professor of Chemistry and General Science
Duties and Responsibilities Under minimal supervision, the faculty member is responsible for effectively teaching coursework in chemistry and other general sciences (15 hours per semester) within the School of Health Careers. Assignments will be primarily in general chemistry courses for students enrolled in Health Careers programs. Faculty must evaluate, record and report student achievement and progress in assigned courses in accordance with School and college policies and procedures. Other duties include: - Academic advising;- Effectively organize, prepare, and teach assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi;- Prepare and maintain accurate course syllabi and course handouts for each course taught;- Evaluate and record student performance/achievement on a regular basis and provide regular student feedback;- Post course syllabi and student grades into the Learning Management System (Blackboard);- Participate in student learning assessment projects;- Maintain established office hours and meet with students as necessary;- Assist in the process of acquiring and maintaining appropriate materials, equipment, and supplies to support the instructional environment for classroom teaching and student learning in established department courses;- Collaborate in the development, assessment, and revision of curriculum; - Attend program, school and college meetings; - Participate in commencement; and,- Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Education Master's degree in a chemistry field or 18+ graduate hours completed in chemistry required.
Required Licenses and/or Certifications NA
Type and Amount of Experience Needed Experience, knowledge, and or training in multiple areas of chemistry desired. Successful teaching experience-preferably in college level chemistry desired.
Special Conditions A candidate for this position will also be responsible for teaching general science courses in chemistry and/or physical sciences.
