We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Cyberinfrastructure Team of a statewide project called "The Missouri Transect: Climate, Plants, and Community," which is funded by the National Science Foundation's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. The overall objective of the position is to curate and organize research data in order to make it available to various user groups via the Missouri Transect Data Portal. User groups include researchers, educators and the general public. Data types include high throughput plant phenotyping (image and sensor), genomic, climate and weather data. Responsibilities include 1) assisting researchers in submitting and organizing data, 2) curating research data and metadata, 3) working with the Missouri Transect Data Portal developer to create data visualizations, 4) developing documentation, 5) interacting with users in person and electronically. This position will provide a motivated individual with opportunities to present their work at scientific meetings.
- BS degree in the Biological Sciences or related field.
- Experience collecting, organizing and maintaining data in a research setting.
- Experience with Linux/Unix command line, MySQL database development, Perl programming.
- Motivation to develop expertise in research data management and bioinformatics.
- Ability and desire to interact with various user groups, including scientists, educators and students.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
