Position Summary: The Associate University Counsel will engage in a broad, demanding transactional practice that will focus on finance and accounting, associated entities, capital improvements, construction, debt financing, facilities planning and use, municipal law, land use and zoning, ITS infrastructure, parking and transportation, telecommunications, and energy services. This person provides advice and counsel to the Vice Chancellor and General Counsel, the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, the Provost, and others at the highest levels of the University regarding finance, infrastructure, policy review and development, real estate, and information technology. The University engages in sophisticated business and financial transactions and the person in this role will help guide decision-makers to structure agreements that serve and protect the University. This person works closely with all of the attorneys in the Office of University Counsel and most closely with those whose work focuses on international matters, development and gift planning, associated entities, entrepreneurial ventures, on-line education, service agreements, and business transactions across all University units and affiliates, including the healthcare system. This person reports to the Vice Chancellor and General Counsel and the Associate Vice Chancellors and Senior University Counsel within the Office.
