Position Summary: The Department of Epidemiology, Gillings School of Global Public Health and the Department of Medicine, School or Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, are recruiting for a full-time fixed term faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor. Demonstrated strengths will include the ability to develop independent funded research, ability to publish impactful findings in well-respected peer-reviewed journals, and ability to engage with non-academic professions and interact with decision-makers. We are seeking an individual who is focused on HIV/STDs in the People's Republic of China; particularly with intervention methods to control HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. The ideal candidate will have experience with HIV and STI control in low and middle-income countries with the ability to read and speak Chinese fluently. The successful applicant will have the ability to teach Chinese trainees who are pursuing graduate training in HIV and STI prevention as well as interpret meetings/collaborations between Chinese and English speaking investigators.

Education Requirements: Doctoral degree in Epidemiology
Qualification and Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years postdoctoral experience in China, with strong collaborative ties with multiple research sites in China, including with the Chinese government and healthcare systems; the ability to speak and read Chinese fluently; experience/education in the impact of international and public affairs on health policies and healthcare delivery systems, including the political, cultural and economic factors in China that affect disadvantaged and vulnerable populations; international field-based research in HIV Prevention Science, Network Science, Healthcare Systems and Public Health Ethics; a track record of peer-review publications and experience in teaching advanced epidemiological methods; prior grant writing experience and a strategy for developing successful funding requests.
