Student Activities Oglesby Union Student Affairs


This position serves as a resource to more than 600 student organizations and their advisors. This position provides training and leadership development opportunities, assists with the University recognition process, and provides advisement to the Student Organization Advisory and Resource (SOAR) Board and the RSO Review Board. This position will also assist with RSO Leadership Programs training for the online software system, Campus Lab’s Engage Leadership Awards Night, and the student organizational side of Market Wednesday.
Responsible for and develops policies and procedures pertaining to the recognition process for over 600 student organizations and serve as a resource to those organizations. Create and edit resources like the Student Organizations and Advisor Handbooks. Develop leadership, advising, and training workshops for students, staff, and faculty.
Supervise a graduate student, student employee, and intern. Advise and train SOAR Board and the RSO Review Board to assist in providing resources and training for student organizations and their advisors. Oversee the implementation of an online database tracking student organization violations.
Assist with creating leadership and learning opportunities and oversee the Market Wednesday program for student orgizations.
Assist with planning and implementation of Leadership Awards Night. Develop, distribute, and compile assessment and evaluation instruments related to recognition process, and other related activities.
Attend student committee, Student Activities Staff, as well as Union Staff meetings to gain understanding of the Student Activities Center and Oglesby Union role within the Division of Student Affairs. Interprets Student Affairs rules and ensures University policies and procedures are followed.


Bachelor' s degree and two years experience; or high school diploma/equivalency and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Ability to compile printing materials and visual aids for training.
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Ability to prepare, coordinate, and conduct workshops.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of event planning and ability to coordinate, organize and evaluate meetings and/or events.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of student program planning, development, and evaluation.
Ability to train and supervise employees.


Master Degree in higher education or similar discipline strongly preferred.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
