Science Faculty - Online, Colorado Mountain College, based in Rifle, Glenwood Springs, or Aspen
This full-time faculty position begins in August 2018 with a 30-credit hour teaching load annually.
The location of this position may be flexible, but will be based at a CMC location in the western region of the CMC district: Rifle, Glenwood Springs, or Aspen. Teaching will be primarily online, but may also teach in traditional formats as determined by student demand and college needs. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in online and technology enhanced learning.
The course load for this position will be focused heavily on Biology courses. Ideal candidates would also be qualified to teach others science courses such as Chemistry, Environmental Science, or science education courses for teachers.
Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.
CMC Faculty are generally expected to engage in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in a culturally diverse environment and the ability to effectively work with students, employees, vendors and community members having diverse backgrounds. Conversational Spanish language abilities may be helpful.
Salary range: $57,492 - $74,144 depending on education and teaching experience in higher education.
Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Biology, or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Biology and at least one year full time teaching experience or the equivalent as a part time instructor. Candidates who qualify to teach in other science fields such as Chemistry, Environmental Science or other courses may be given preference. Higher Education teaching preferred. Knowledge of online instruction of science courses and lab kit design or selection are essential; please address familiarity with these areas in application material.
