Music Therapy Director
Marietta College is seeking qualified applicants to direct our Music Therapy Program housed within the Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music. This is a tenure-track position to be hired at either the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. As the Director of Music Therapy and Assistant/Associate Professor of Music Therapy, the successful candidate will be a representative for the music therapy degree within the context of the Department of Music.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): Implementing and/or revising the newly-developed music therapy curriculum. Teaching undergraduate core courses in music therapy. Developing and maintaining professional relationships with hospitals and other facilities and organizations in need of music therapy services. Establishing clinical and practicum locations for music therapy students; assisting with ongoing music therapy student recruitment and interviews; and remaining actively involved in the interview process for future music therapy hiring. Becoming an active and collaborative participant in the Marietta College music department and campus community, including service where requested.
REQUIREMENTS: We seek a music therapist who is an enthusiastic educator dedicated to the Marietta College core value of excellence in teaching, developing leaders in the profession, and working in a collaborative atmosphere with professors from other musical disciplines.
Qualifications include the following: Master’s degree required (Doctorate preferred) in Music Therapy or related musical areas with a minimum of 12 semester hours or the equivalent of graduate credits in music therapy beyond the undergraduate equivalency requirements; Music Therapy Board Certification with the Certification Board for Music Therapists; Music therapy teaching experience and at least three years of full-time clinical experience in music therapy or its equivalent in part-time work; Strong leadership, interpersonal, teaching, clinical, and musical skills.
