Quality Assurance Officer

Reporting to the Administrative Director of Clinical Research Operations, the Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) coordinates and manages all quality assurance (QA) activities for all high risk clinical research studies managed by the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose goal is to promote and enhance cancer-relevant research and patient care at UC Irvine. The CFCCC provides research resources to its ~175 members engaged in research and offers multidisciplinary cancer care to its patients.

The QAO leads and coordinates audits for all high risk trial-related activities for investigator-initiated, industry-sponsored and NCTN clinical research trials to ensure compliance with the protocol plan, internal policies, human subject federal regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), good clinical practices (GCPs), University policies and procedures and all other relevant regulations.

The QAO works closely with CFCCC leadership and staff, sponsors and Principal Investigators to address compliance challenges and issues. In this position, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive quality assurance program in the context of clinical trials management. The QAO builds and maintains a culture of excellence, safety, and compliance with the goal of achieving an audit-ready operation at all times.

In addition, the QAO helps scale and implement clinical research training programs and will be responsible for the development, management, and organization of training programs. The role includes researching and creating content and tools to streamline protocol driven activities, building a curriculum that ensures the highest quality of care through education, hands-on training, and information sharing through various mediums. The incumbent establishes and monitors quality metrics and determines how best to maintain high standards of performance.

Salary: Monthly $5,450.00 - $7,758.00
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
Career Position.
May require work performance/completion outside of normal business hours.
May require travel to satellite sites.
