Job Summary

The Manager oversees the Autism Resource Center for Teachers (ARCT) in the School of Education (SOE), acts as a resource to professionals working with populations with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and writes grants to support the Center.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Works with local and national agencies to increase awareness of autism and plan awareness events
•Manages the Center's budget by determining the resources needed while de-selecting others
•Arranges for professional development for teachers work with populations with ASD
•Arranges consultation for SOE faculty within ASD centers and classrooms
•Acquires a storehouse of resources for the ARCT and trains teachers to work with these
•Evaluates mini-grant applications to the ARCT and makes recommendations for their funding
•Writes grants to support and enhance the work of the ARCT
•Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Special Education with specialization (endorsement) in Autism and three (3) years of classroom experience working with populations with ASD
•All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
•Working knowledge in managing a budget
•Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both orally and in writing
•Expertise in Grant-writing
•Proven ability to develop, promote, and professionally facilitate presentations to grant sources, vendors, community events, teachers, and in the general public
•Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a team player
•Knowledge of Microsoft office applications, applicable computer software, and ASD resources and vendors
•Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends as required
•Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
