Job Summary

The Part-time Tel-E Advisor provides admission, registration, financial aid and academic advisement services to current and prospective students college-wide via phone, email and live chat.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responds to telephone calls, email inquiries and live chats from current and prospective students
  • Assists students with academic advisement, financial aid, registration and career related topics
  • Creates, manages and maintains contact and student databases
  • Participates in virtual events including but not limited to open houses and college fairs
  • Supports college marketing campaigns by responding to inquiries and providing accurate information
  • Provides reports and statistical data on incoming and outgoing calls and special projects
  • Participates in scheduled training activities and workshops
  • Provides quality customer service in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of related experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of academic advising and customer services practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse community
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a team setting and interact with others in a professional and positive manner at all times
  • Effective communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Knowledge of academic programs and student services
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include days and evenings
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
