The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia seeks a post-doctoral Research Associate to work in Dr. Song Hu's Biomedical Optics & Ultrasound Lab ( on photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) research. The position is funded for a period of 2-3 years. Potential projects include the development and application of advanced PAM techniques for brain disease studies in animal models. Research will involve system instrumentation, animal experiments, and quantitative image/data analyses.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred skills include experience in light microscopy, image processing, and brain disease research. Besides performing independent research, candidates will also have the opportunity to supervise trainees and write research proposals.
