The School of Architecture seeks a highly organized, quality and strategic focused energetic person to fill the position of Administrative Assistant to the Dean. The qualified candidate will consistently display professionalism and confidence, create a positive first impression as an individual and as a representative of the University.
This position provides a high level of support to the Dean and Associate Deans. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting administratively with the daily responsibilities of the Dean
- Coordinating and managing the Dean's schedule and correspondence
- Making all travel arrangements for the Dean and provide itineraries, maps, and essential back-ground information in a timely manner
- Coordinate receptions, conferences, dinners, and major school events to effectively ensure all are carried out correctly and runs smoothly
This position will assist with various special projects that could include:
- Coordinating and tracking faculty leave and summer research requests
- Updating the faculty handbook
- Working closely with the Dean to prepare documentation for the Provost Promotion and Tenure Committee
This position serves as a liaison and will maintain coordination with the Provost, Vice-Presidents, President, Faculty Senate, other departments and schools, alumni, donors, students and distinguished guests/visitors of the School. A positive attitude and ability to work well with management and in a team environment is essential to this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of office practices in a senior executive office, with demonstrated skill in handling fast paced and often competing pressures on one's time.
Command of confidentiality and tact are required.
Excellent verbal and written communication is essential.
Ability to manage interactions with executive level administrators, faculty, and staff visitors needing to see the dean.
A high degree of motivation is required.
The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is essential.
The qualified candidate will have the ability to effectively adjust to changes in the work processes and environment and alter behavior to align with evolving situations, as well as openly receive new ideas and accepts other perspectives.
