Nature of Work:
The Financial Aid Advisor will serve as a financial aid advisor to students and as a program specialist for various federal, state, and/or institutional financial aid programs. As a financial aid advisor to students, this position will possess a broad knowledge of all financial aid programs in order to assist students with escalated questions that are referred by the UWG Call Center or Enrollment Services Center. As a program specialist, this position will work with office management to coordinate and implement processing details for various financial aid programs, including but not limited to state scholarships and grants, federal grants, student loans, verification, satisfactory academic progress, institutional scholarship programs, and private scholarship programs. This position will also present financial aid topical sessions to campus constituencies, including current UWG students and faculty/staff, prospective students at Admissions Office recruiting events, and high school visits as requested.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. 1 to 3 years of experience in a college enrollment management office or 6 months experience in a college financial aid office required. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail a must. Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Excel and other quantitative analysis programs preferred. Customer service skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred. Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Excel and other quantitative analysis programs preferred.

Salary    $16.15 minimum - $19.99 hourly midpoint

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
This position requires an individual to work within an office setting with occasional meetings and presentations in other campus locations as well as off-campus locations. Must be able to travel to off-campus meetings. Occasional work outside of normal scheduled hours is necessary. Must be able to occasionally lift heavy boxes and packages, as needed.
