Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
Performs installation, maintenance and repair of primary and secondary electrical distribution systems, electrical equipment, building lighting, electrical fixtures, outside lighting and power and performs temporary installation of electrical power for public and university functions throughout campus.

N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification.
Optional Guidelines:
Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Must be able to perform wiring, conduit installation, underground utility repair, splicing and terminating up to 12,500 Volts, electrical troubleshooting, and electrical/lighting fixture repair/replacement
Ability to diagnose faults and perform corrective repairs on primary/secondary distribution wiring, transformers, switchgear, main and sub service panels, and complete building electrical distribution wiring, conduits, fixtures and lighting

Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Employee must possess strong electrical trade knowledge and skills
Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and NC State Building Code. Must be able to use multimeters, ammmeters, meggars, locating devices and other trade test equipment
Must be able to perform wiring, conduit installation, underground utility repair, splicing and terminating up to 12,500 Volts, electrical troubleshooting, and electrical/lighting fixture repair/replacement
Ability to diagnose faults and perform corrective repairs on primary/secondary distribution wiring, transformers, switchgear, main and sub service panels, and complete building electrical distribution wiring, conduits, fixtures and lighting
Employee will occasionally be required to monitor, evaluate and inspect electrical work performed by outside contractors

Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position:
A valid NC drivers license or be able to obtain one within two weeks of employment
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five years of field experience in the electrical trade

Recruitment Range: $37,503 - $38,970
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 63
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Months Per Year: 12 Months
Work Days: Monday - Friday
Work Hours: 7:00AM - 4:00PM - on-call duty two consecutive weekends every tenth weekend, emergencies and scheduled OT
