Job Summary
The Part-Time Hospitality Institute Non-Credit Instructor teaches state mandated Safe Staff Food Handler Certification training, hospitality certification training and general hospitality and job readiness skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaches state mandated Safe Staff Food Handler Certification training and hospitality industry certification training
- Teaches lecture and hands-on training sections relating to general hospitality and job readiness skills
- Prepares and distributes course outline/syllabi to students and maintains accurate attendance records
- Proctors mid-term exams, completion exams and industry certification exams
- Develops teaching and learning strategies that optimize student performance
- Develops classroom materials and curriculum
- Complies with department and College policies and procedures
- Completes an submits all necessary documentation for grant compliance
- Attends and supports college, industry and community events and activities
- Submits periodic reports to the Hospitality Chairperson
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regionally accredited institution and professional experience in academic and/or professional expertise in corresponding field
- All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Servsafe or applicable industry certification
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
- Prior teaching or training experience and certification as a food safety trainer
- Knowledge of hospitality industry, hospitality positions, and related software and technology
- Knowledge of job readiness skills including resumes, interviews and professional attire
- Ability to meet deadlines, work independently, resolve problems and make decisions in accordance with policies and procedures
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point) and specific related software programs in the area of responsibility
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekend assignments
- Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
