Under the general supervision of the Waste & Recycling Building and Grounds Supervisor or the Waste & Recycling Building and Grounds Superintendent, this position assists in maintaining the cleanliness of campus by identifying, collecting, loading and transferring refuse and recyclable materials. Knowledge of environmental and governmental laws governing landfills, ability and willingness to work outside in varying weather conditions and to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lb (e.g. dock containers, barrels of rubbish) is required.
Some positions primarily operate one ton trucks and scooter type vehicles in the collection of refuse and recycling but all positions may be required to operate end-loaders, sweepers, skid steers and large rubbish trucks. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with airbrake endorsement is required to operate a large truck when the primary driver is not there or when the primary driver needs a break.
