Degree and Area of Specialization:
BA or BS required; preferably in business management or related field. Other specializations will be considered if candidate has relevant qualifications
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
2-4 years post-graduate experience providing administrative support or leadership in a professional academic, research, public health, community, or clinical health care setting is preferred. Experience scheduling meetings and maintaining multiple calendars is strongly favored. Knowledge of clinical/health research principles preferred.
A minimum of 7 years of post-graduate, professional work experience is required for appointment at the senior level. Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant post-graduate, professional work experience.
License or certificate:
This position provides the primary administrative support for the Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR), a vibrant health services research program in the Department of Surgery that encompasses the research programs of nearly 50 investigators and research staff. The incumbent will also serve as the administrative assistant to Drs. Caprice Greenberg (Medical Director), Corrine Voils (Scientific Director), and Laurie Silverberg (Administrative Director). The incumbent will be expected to support and act in the stead of Administrative Director when she is not available.
Candidate should be highly organized, detail oriented, and possess excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and prioritizing skills. The position requires excellent verbal and written skills and proficiency with Microsoft Suite; knowledge of Endnote and UW System databases such as WISDM is preferred. Experience in providing staff support to multidisciplinary teams is preferred. Must be able to work well on a team. Familiarity with UW System or other academic setting is preferred.
The mission of WiSOR is to improve the quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of surgical care through research and innovation. The program encompasses comparative effectiveness research, qualitative research (particularly related to patient-provider interactions), as well as research in performance and safety in surgical care, patterns of care, quality of life, and decision analysis.
