Job Summary:

This position functions as the Horticultural Technician for the Department of Botany Gardens and Greenhouses (8,000 sq.ft. with over 2,000 species and the site of botanical research; and the Botanical Garden and pond (1.2 acres with about 600 species).

Under the general supervision of the Director, the Horticultural technician: 1) prepares plant materials for about 14 courses and assists with research and teaching activities; 2) implements proper horticultural techniques, propagates plants and implements the integrated pest management (IPM) program; 3) assists with training and coordination of student workers and volunteers and 4) maintains, inspects and cleans greenhouse and garden facilities.
