Director of Mariachi Ensembles and Full-time Lecturer in Ethnomusicology; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Direct the Butler School's Mariachi Paredes de Tejastitl\u00e1n, leading them in outreach activities and competitions. Arrange enrichment activities such as master classes or residencies by guest instructors or performers. Expand performance offerings to a second training ensemble. Develop courses in ethnomusicology and/or music education according to individual strengths. Direct and administer the Longhorn Mariachi Camp each summer. Possible creation of a third mariachi ensemble for community youth, similar to UT's String Project.

QUALIFICATIONS: A portfolio demonstrating a record of excellence as a performer in and teacher/director of mariachi ensembles. Advanced degrees and background in ethnomusicology or music education preferred, but the search committee will consider equivalent professional experience. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to develop and teach survey courses on music of the Texas-Mexican border, Mexico and Central America, and/or Latinx communities.
