Position Summary: The Director of X-Ray Core laboratory provides leadership and direction in the management of research and experiential learning activities that involve the X-Ray Core laboratory. He/she supports the instructional and research mission of the Chemistry Department through faculty and student engagement by providing support, consultation and expertise in X-Ray experiment and instrument functionality to accomplish the department's instructional and research goals. This includes experimental design and execution, project evaluation, data analysis, student training, and education. The major responsibilities of the X-Ray Core laboratory Director include (1) manage operation of the X-ray Crystallographic laboratory including design and use of the laboratory for experiment selection, implementation and analysis; (2) train and collaborate with students and faculty to determine the structure of small molecules by X-ray crystallography for experiments and education. The Director will also provide crystallographic expertise to further the department's instructional and research goals. This position may also provide opportunities for lectures in X-ray Crystallography and other Chemistry courses. This would be accomplished through a secondary faculty appointment.

Application Deadline:

Education Requirements: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or related area. Demonstrated experience in crystallographic studies or equivalent research experience.

Qualification and Experience: Three or more years' experience operating and maintaining modern diffractometers, mounting single crystals, and solving small molecule data sets.
