Advertised Job Summary: - Performs a portion of the verification, Special Conditions, Dependency Evaluations and Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals. - Performs review, required follow-up and verification of data from student federal application of Financial Aid within federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures. Prepares electronic files for correction submission to ED from errors identified through verification or student request for changes. Monitors electronic correction process to include transmission and receipt of corrected electronic record. - Supervises and hires the student workers and front desk receptionist for the FAO. - Coordinates and evaluates a comprehensive computer data management system, manipulating and modifying campus specific aspects of the system to accommodate regulatory as well as cyclical changes to the financial aid awarding process. Also represents USC Upstate as liaison to University Technology Services (UTS) and other USC systems offices of Financial Aid for the purpose of initiating mainframe system development and enhancement to improve the efficiency of the USC Upstate financial aid process. - Designs, develops, and implements financial aid application and award tracking operations for all financial aid programs, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, supervises the entry and integration of data from such sources as the US Department of Education, the Department of Homeland Security, NSLDS (National Student Loan Data Base), other institutions of higher education, and family financial records to ensure that applicant information regarding citizenship status, educational loan history, enrollment status, and degree attainment are properly accounted for in an automated awarding process which results in allocation of approximately $60+ million in federal, campus based grant, loan and work study funds and which establishes student eligibility for the total number of millions of dollars awarded each year at USC Upstate under all federal programs. - Assists the Director of Financial Aid by managing the records and processes of the office and by representing the Director as necessary in advising students, parents, faculty, alumni, staff, and the general public regarding Financial Aid matters and supervising the Financial Aid staff in the Directors absence. - Reviews student financial data to verify eligibility for federal grants - Pell, SEOG, SNBG, ACG, SMART, TEACH, OSPG and VIG and federal Perkins loan. - Reconciles awards to proper accounts after Bursar calculates the return and calculation of institutional refunds. - Assist with surveys and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Masters degree in Student Services or related field and 3 years related experience, or bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience. Supervisory experience is required. A successful background check is required.
