This ideal candidate will need to demonstrate strategic thinking, have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and is knowledgeable of best practices as it relates to logistics and operations of a functioning radio station.

Job Description Summary:
Under general administrative direction, the Director of Radio Station Operations is responsible for the coordination and effective management of the radio station. The station operation may broadcast 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Coordinates a full complement of radio courses with instructional schedules and student programs with the broadcast operation. Performs related duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge Of: Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations; principles of supervision, personal computer operation, public relations, of equipment used in the operation of a radio station, principles, methods and techniques involved in radio production, directing, and programming.

Skills and Abilities: Select, train, and supervise personnel; prepare and maintain accurate and complete records; maintain effective and compatible relations with all facets of the campus and community; ability to comprehend and apply materials having technical, legal and policy content; repair and maintain radio station broadcasting equipment; operate a radio station.

Essential Duties:
Participates in the purchase, installation, maintenance and repair of equipment;

Supervises and is responsible for the preparation of license applications, daily logs and reports as required by the F.C.C.;

Hires, trains, assigns, and supervises staff;

Supervises and is responsible for the design and production of programs for broadcasting on and off campus;

Performs general maintenance and repairs on station equipment and broadcast tower;

Participates in special projects;

Coordinates with administration and faculty in course design, implementation and instruction, participating in the identification of qualified adjunct faculty for the radio/television program;

Participates in the supervision of lab activities for all radio courses;

Prepares and controls radio station budget;

Works cooperatively with the Office of Public Information in a public relations role and in designing and implementing broadcast advertising for the College;

Selects marketing agency and is responsible for revenue generation efforts.

Education and Experience:
Education: B.A. degree with two years of commercial broadcasting and/or one year of educational broadcasting experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

License Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit.
