Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the Co-Defensive Coordinator position is responsible for assisting with the management of all operational activities of a Division II sports program.  

Training and Experience:

*Bachelor’s Degree Required 
*Masters Preferred 
*At least three years of athletics work experience 
*Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) rules and regulations. 
*Knowledge of NCAA sport specific rules and regulations. 
*Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

*Execute all responsibilities as an Defensive Coordinator in a manner that reflects an ongoing commitment to the excellence, integrity and success of the program, Department of Athletics and Albany State University. 
*Prepare and organize daily practice sessions, game preparation for competition and off-season training. 
*Assist with organizing and administrating the recruiting of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NCAA, SIAC, University System of Georgia and Albany State University policies and procedures. 
*Assist with the proper supervision and evaluation of interns, graduate assistants or work study students. 
*Assist with organizing and directing the coaching staff to carry out the goals and objectives of the program. 
*Assist with the management of the program's budget and ensuring it balances each fiscal year. 
*Assist with the coordination and execution of arranging recruitment travel in conjunction with the administration adhering to compliance of all internal and external rules and regulations. 
*Assist the Head Coach with recommendations to the Director of Athletics for personnel, financial and facilities requirements for the program. 
*Engage in regular consultation with athletic training and other department sports medicine personnel to maximize the safety and wellness of student-athletes. 
*Demonstrate concern for the overall welfare of the students at all times. 
*Assist with recommendations of scholarship awards for student-athletes to the Director of Athletics or direct report. 
*Responsible for working in conjunction with athletics administration for tracking the admissions and eligibility process involving recruited student-athletes. 
*Responsible for working collaboratively with the Compliance Officer. 
*Responsible for monitoring and supporting student-athletes academic progress in consultation and coordination with department and institution academic support staff. 
*Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, SIAC, University System of Georgia and Albany State University. 

*Perform other duties as assigned.
