The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois is seeking a Coordinator of Diversity & Inclusion to provide leadership within the College in developing, promoting and participating in activities that help increase diversity within the college, and assist in creating and maintaining an inclusive environment.

Start date:

At search conclusion or until suitable candidate is identified.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist and advise the Dean on issues related to diversity, inclusion and climate
  • Provide leadership within the college in developing, promoting and participating in activities that help increase diversity within the college, and assist in creating and maintaining an inclusive environment
  • Provide leadership in ensuring that the college meets the diversity and inclusion requirements stated in the Council on Education standards
  • Provide requested information related to AAVMC and AVMA initiatives regarding diversity, inclusion, and climate.
  • Serve as the college representative on University committees related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Serve on the College Planning Committee, College Admissions Advisory Committee, and College Educational Policy Committee
  • Meet every one to two months throughout the year with the Dean to discuss activities and progress
  • Periodically provide oral and written reports to the college related to diversity and inclusion activities
  • Participate in diversity related meetings and symposia as well as other appropriate activities related to the University's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, the AAVMC DiVersity Matters initiative, and relevant AVMA initiatives


Minimal qualifications:

Experience attained through current employment as a full-time faculty or specialized faculty at the rank of Instructor, Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor within the College of Veterinary Medicine. Must possess a Ph.D or D.V.M. Preference will be given to candidates with a documented interest and involvement in diversity, inclusion, and cultural competency

Salary:

An annual administrative stipend of $5,000 or two months of summer salary (for academic appointments) will be provided.

Appointment status:

This is a 0% administrative academic professional appointment with a 25% time commitment on a 12-month basis.
