The Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences (GES) at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level in Physical Geography to begin August 2018.

The department is seeking a computational and/or field scientist proficient in one or more subfields of physical geography. The successful candidate will complement and expand upon existing department strengths focusing on human-environmental interactions and geographic information science and technology. We are especially interested in a scholar working at the intersection of climate and other Earth-environmental or human systems. Example areas of interest include the impacts of climate on water resources and agriculture; climate impacts on health; and land-atmosphere interactions, including pollution. Other areas of specialization will be considered. The candidate will be dynamic, innovative, and excellent in research and teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Responsibilities for the position include teaching two courses per semester during the 9-month academic year. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory undergraduate core science courses, as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate's area of specialization. The candidate will need to demonstrate and value high quality teaching and maintain an active research program that yields publications and external grant submissions. Candidates must have a PhD in geography or a related discipline at the time of appointment.

The GES department at CU Denver offers a BA in Geography (approximately 160 majors), a new MA in Applied Geography and Geospatial Sciences and a MS in Environmental Science (approximately 60 graduate students). Ph.D. in Geography or related field is required
