Degree and Area of Specialization:

Minimum BA/BS required, preferably in biological sciences.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

At least 1 year of lab experience in molecular biology techniques, bright field or fluorescence microscopy, tissue dissection, frozen tissue sectioning, basic histology, immunohistochemistry, or animal handling and maintenance required.

Well qualified candidates will possess previous work experience in confocal microscopy, zebrafish colony maintenance, detail-oriented monitoring and execution of data collection, or analysis and other project elements.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of Dr. Kang, the research specialist will perform research related to understanding tissue regeneration using zebrafish models. A highly motivated individual will provide technical support for the Kang lab and will have the ability to carry out supervised projects on their own, as needed. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the laboratory's research program investigating the regulatory mechanisms of cardiac regeneration enhancer elements. Research duties include molecular biology, cell culture, histology, and zebrafish colony maintenance. In addition, the individual will be expected to perform general lab duties, ordering supplies, chemical inventory and maintain sample database.
