Summary of Job Duties

The Opportunity:

The University of Arkansas System is embarking on a transformational Workday project for its Enterprise Resource Planner (ERP). The project will encompass a phased implementation of Workday's Financial Management, Human Capital Management and Student Administration for all System entities. The overarching vision is for "the System to operate even more like a System" by bringing member institutions onto the Workday ERP platform for all major business functions. The System intends to adopt leading practices and consistent business processes as part of this initiative.

The University of Arkansas System is looking for an experienced, Director level person to join our ERP leadership team. The ERP Project Director is responsible for providing, selecting, developing and implementing standard methodologies, processes, templates, and tools throughout the ERP project and the ERP team. The Director manages the day-to-day activities of the ERP project with the goal of configuring, customizing and deploying the ERP across all institutions in the University of Arkansas System. The Director will supervise five full-time ERP Team Leads and indirectly supervise team members to meet the staffing needs of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

Communication. Champions the project and provides meaningful communication, reports, and updates to project leadership, project sponsor, contractors, and others.

Management. Provides guidance and resources for project management. Works with project leadership to develop and implement templates and tools. Sets priorities, guides change management and directs the Team Leads in the day-to-day management of the project.

Resourcing and Logistics. Allocates project resources, monitors project budget and expenditures and establishes logistics for the team.

Review and Approval. Approves business requirements defined through "to-be" business processes. Initiates periodic Quality Assurance (QA) review of work done, deliverables, and plans.

Issue and Risk Management. Resolves or escalates issues for resolution as they arise. Analyzes risks and manages risk mitigation plans.

  • The educational equivalent of Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least 10 years of experience leading or managing complex projects with progressive growth in management and leadership responsibility
  • Significant experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change management
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and travel throughout the State to various UA campuses on an average of once a week as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • The educational equivalent of Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Experience with change management related to ERP systems or other large enterprise system deployments
  • Experience in facilitating change, including collaboration with senior-level stakeholders
  • Demonstrated proficiency with project management software tools
  • Experience working in higher education
