MFA in Studio Art.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to teach introductory to advanced courses in drawing with the ability to approach drawing as an expanded practice. The applicant should possess a thorough working knowledge in a wide range of drawing techniques and styles, including observational and non-objective approaches. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate knowledge of strong drawing skills associated with an emphasis on contemporary studio practices and knowledge of the medium's history. Successful applicants must possess experience in developing curriculum in both drawing and foundations, as an interdisciplinary connector to a diverse set of areas in the department, that is inclusive of both technical and conceptual issues; strong interpersonal and communication skills; and knowledge of safety practices in studio art. The candidate must maintain an active professional practice of regional and national exhibitions record.

Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications

Successful teaching at the college/university level with experience in drawing, including the ability to teach a variety of technical and stylistic skills as applicable both to traditional and to contemporary drawing. Working knowledge of new technology and digital practices in studio art.
