Minimum Education/Experience: *Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution *Expertise in quantitative research design and statistical analyses *Experience using a statistical analysis software package such as SAS or R *Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy *Ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences and explain technical information in a clear and understandable manner *Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including a customer service orientation and ability to interact and communicate effectively with University faculty and staff.

Job Duties: The Research Associate for External Reporting reports to the Director of Institutional Research and assumes responsibility for assignments that support the planning, assessment, and research functions in the Office of Institutional Planning, Assessment, and Research (IPAR). The scope of the position extends from IPAR to the entire University community. The overall duties of this position entail the management and presentation of detailed qualitative and quantitative data that support the informed decision-making needs of the university community. Under this general job function, the position specifically is responsible for the following: * Facilitating data collection and reporting to satisfy state and federal requirements, respond to college guide and ranking publications, and participate in studies/surveys which serve as sources of benchmark data for ECU (e.g., the Delaware Cost Study, CUPA-HR salary surveys) or constitute data partnerships which promote student success or university achievement (e.g., ACT/SAT validity studies); * Compiling and verifying ECU's Common Data Set; * Filling ad hoc and scheduled requests for data and reports; * Serving as IR's liaison to Institutional Planning and Institutional Assessment in the areas of academic program development and review; * Supporting the timely and accurate submission of ECU faculty and staff data to the UNC system HR Data Mart; and * Conducting statistical analyses using SAS and/or R, e.g., regression analyses. The research associate will maintain an advanced understanding of University reporting requirements, university operational guidelines and restrictions, and university business intelligence systems so that he or she may lead efforts to identify, propose, and implement new practices that ensure the University's compliance with all internal and external reporting requirements. The research associate will consult with University administrators, faculty, and staff to interpret reporting requirements, analyze information needs, and to translate data into timely and meaningful information that satisfies those needs. The research associate is accountable for keeping multiple projects on track, meeting deadlines, and modifying goals to adjust for additional work or problems. The person in this position will cultivate positive and productive relationships with other departments at ECU and represent IPAR on various campus committees. Working with faculty, staff, and student data necessitates the utmost care in data security and confidentiality. The person in this position is continually vigilant in assuring that policies and procedures related to data security are strictly enforced.
