General Summary of Position:

The Office of University Relations is responsible for promoting the University to the campus, prospective students and families, alumni, granting institutions, legislators and the general public. The Web Designer assists the sr. web designer creating engaging interactive sites, brand experiences and other digital media. Creates and executes visual designs for any internal and external websites and web marketing materials and is responsible for assisting the sr. web designer in accomplishing and maintaining the quality of design throughout all phases of the university web presence.

Other job responsibilities:

  • Assists sr. web designer with templates and branding standards for university web presence and internal/external email marketing efforts
  • Edit/Enhance HTML on components converting to semantic format
  • Edit and create web pages, component templates, schemas and properties through SDL Tridion
  • Assist sr. web designer by taking photographs for web banners and enhancing graphics for website.
  • Create and send Evites and newsletters through list management program
  • Photographer - Photography editing, photo enhancement, create and manage photo catalogs
  • Assist sr. web designer in designing and constructing evites and implementing through Lyris or Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Create and assist with presentations for the chancellor, administration and department using PowerPoint, Prezi and other presentation and graphic tools

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
  • Associate degree in Graphic Design or related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in designing and maintaining public-facing websites
  • Commanding knowledge and experience of the following:
    Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Lightroom)
  • SDL Tridion Content Management Software (CMS)
  • Lyris List Manager
  • Knowledge of CSS/HTML web design and development
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and details/deadlines
  • Strong conceptual skills, a meticulous eye for detail and the ability to take a project from inception to completion
  • Strong sense of design, lighting and photograph composition
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Maintains and provides ongoing formatting of the website, semantic coding and proper layout of components for departments
  • Keeps abreast of a variety of Web concepts, practices and procedures. A degree of creativity and latitude is expected

Additional Considerations:
  • Bachelors degree preferred
