Description of Position
The ESL department is looking for adjunct instructors to teach all levels of ESL.

The instructor must be able to teach different levels of proficiency and curriculum areas, including integrated, contextualized courses; prepare and grade class assignments and exams; inform students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and their academic progress; maintain scholastic records and submit them by published deadlines; and be able to serve students of diverse ages, ethnicities, and language and academic backgrounds.

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience
Master€™s in TESL, TESOL, applied linguistics with a Language (ESL) TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis or education with a TESL emphasis

OR

Bachelor€™s in TESL, TESOL, English with a TESL certificate, linguistics with a TESL certificate, applied linguistics with a TESL certificate, or any foreign language with a TESL certificate AND master€™s in linguistics, applied linguistics, English, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, speech or any foreign language

OR the equivalent. (If you do not possess the listed degrees, you must complete the equivalency from provided in the online application)


Desirable Qualifications
€¢ Experience teaching ESL to a diverse adult population diverse students in terms of ages, educational levels, ethnicity, first-language backgrounds, and socioeconomic status
€¢ Experience teaching authentic language in the context of a rigorous, dynamic, and supportive classroom environment
€¢ Experience teaching in a community college or similar context
