Detailed Position Description:

The University of San Diego School of Law invites applications for a Professor of Legal Writing Position for the 2018-2019 academic year. This Professor will teach two sections, each semester, of the required first-year legal research, writing, and analysis course, Legal Writing and Research. This position is a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position. The Legal Writing and Research Program seeks individuals who wish to work in a collaborative atmosphere with others who are committed to excellence in teaching.

The Professor's primary responsibilities include teaching classes, preparing assignments, critiquing assignments, meeting with students, and contributing to the Legal Writing and Research Program. Each legal writing faculty member is also responsible for all aspects of successful and timely course administration. Professors teach in both the day and evening programs, depending on need. Professors attend faculty meetings and may serve on faculty committees. Professors are hired to work from August through May with the possibility of annual reappointment. The starting salary is $70,000.

Job Requirements:

Applicants for the position must have a JD degree, admission to the bar in any state, a strong academic record, and excellent writing skills. Applicants should have at least three years of recent legal work experience post-JD graduation. Experience teaching law students or attorneys is preferred.
