Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) seeks a dynamic, creative, and visionary academic leader for the position of Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is charged with oversight of all aspects of academic affairs. This includes facilitating program evaluation and accreditation, new program and curriculum development, interprofessional collaborative education, study abroad and globalization of the curriculum, and faculty and student conduct.

Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must hold a earned doctorate degree and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate Processor or Professor with tenure within one of the three professional Schools of College of Health and Human Services. Strong communication, management and leadership skills; demonstrated success in team-building and faculty/staff development and mentoring, with a strong commitment to collaborative leadership and shared governance; and a successful record of effective administrative leadership are compulsory. The successful candidate must be an active scholar with a history of successful external funding for research and/or service projects. Evidence of community involvement, experience in social services settings, and the capability to lead change within the academic setting is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience with inter-professional and/or trans-disciplinary approaches to education within health and human services; demonstrated experience working within and across programs; visibility within the profession; and demonstrated experience in fiscal management, advancement, innovative teaching and practice approaches, and effective team work with administrators of different disciplines.

The College of Health and Human Services was created in July 2010 to provide UNCW with a new mechanism to link and focus its health-related research, professional continuing education, and health knowledge dissemination and application. In the formative stage of development, the CHHS is currently home to three professional schools: School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Social Work. The College seeks to be nationally recognized for its inter-professional and collaborative approach to enhancing the health and quality of life of individuals, families, and communities in southeastern North Carolina and beyond. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a leadership team that values interprofessional collaboration, community engagement and impact, and implementation science.
