Program Manager - Student Leadership & Success Studies

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Under the supervision of the Faculty Director, coordinates strategic planning, budgeting, material, marketing, recruiting, training, and personnel for The UVU Mentor Program. Program Manager oversees all day-to-day program requirements including tracking and maintaining program budget and scholarships, supervising student leaders and making and implementing program policies and procedures. Program manager is responsible for teaching a leadership and mentoring course to the UVU Mentors.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling five years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge in student development, first year experience, leadership, and mentoring using a variety of instructional modes, theories and acknowledged best practices in the discipline.
  • Demonstrates collegiality, effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Skills in development and coordination of peer mentor programs including policy/procedure development and training.
  • Skills in financial management, including the ability to budget, maintain, and organize program’s budget.
  • Demonstrates collaboration in the development of the curriculum that aligns with the student development, retention, leadership, and first year experience.
  • Demonstrates effective managerial and supervisory skills including conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal interactions with a diverse student population.
  • Skills in strategic planning, critical thinking, and planning.
  • Effective writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to model effective student leadership, retention, first year experience, and peer mentoring knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively supervise, advise, and coach UVU Mentors in their responsibilities.
  • Ability to be an effective leader and mentor.
  • Ability to participate effectively with departmental, college, and other university campus services.
  • Ability to begin and maintain relationships across campus and within the community in support of the UVU Mentor Program.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Masters’s Degree in Education Leadership, Psychology, Student Affairs, or a related field.

Physical Requirements:
Requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, fine hand manipulation and continual seeing, hearing, talking with ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Pay Range: $28,730 to $38,306
