Job Summary

Works under the supervision of the Summer Residential Director as a resource to all program students throughout the Summer Academic Institute. We are particularly interested in candidates from underrepresented groups that can add to the diversity and excellence of our academic program and community.

Responsibilities include: conducting nightly rounds to ensure the safety of all residents; maintaining an environment conducive to learning; providing personal, social, and academic peer counseling to students; assisting in the critical enforcement of policies, practices, and procedures; providing a reasonably safe learning environment for the students within the residence halls; encouraging students to take responsibility of their residence halls; attending regular weekly staff meetings; understand and uphold all college and Summer Academic Institute and rules, regulations, and policies; utilize an educational approach to address students about policies, as well as the impacts of their behavior; address all policy violations immediately and consistently; mediate conflicts amongst residents as they arise; maintain consistency and fairness when dealing with all students in the program; assist residents in their adjustment to roommate and community living; helping the Summer Residential Director to monitor tutoring hours; other duties as assigned by the Director/Coordinator of Summer Academic Institute. Resident Assistants are required to live in the residence hall for the duration of the five-week summer program including weekends, and participate in a residential summer staff training preceding the summer program. Residential life experience preferred. Valid driver's license a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

Skidmore student (Class of 2018,2019 or 2020) in good academic standing.

Preferred Qualifications

Residential Life experience is a plus. Valid driver's license is a plus.
