Job Summary

The Assistant/Associate Director works to develop and promote a culture of lifelong giving to Skidmore among key constituents of the College. The individual will manage the 1903 Society that recognizes consecutive giving, manage class fundraising campaigns, oversee stewardship of participation-level Skidmore Fund donors, and maintain a consistent level of road work visiting alumni and volunteers in the northeast.

Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing an overall strategic plan, setting goals, recruiting, training and managing volunteers, and creating/managing stewardship efforts. Additionally, the Assistant/Associate Director is responsible for developing philanthropic relationships with an assigned group of donors, prospective donors, and volunteers; identifying capacity, interests and inclination, educating and cultivating these individuals, soliciting gifts, and stewarding donors and volunteers appropriately.

The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, embrace the essence of creativity and the Skidmore brand, "Creative Thought Matters," is detail-oriented, and is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate good decision making, with a commitment to flexibility and working in a team environment, and possess a sense of humor and a valid driver's license. A familiarity with technology and social networking platforms is expected. Frequent travel to interact with volunteers and prospects as well as periodic night and weekend commitments.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications

2-3 years experience (assistant director) 3-5 years (associate director) in Advancement or related field. Demonstrated success working with volunteers, developing philanthropic relationships, and project management.
