The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at The George Washington University invites applications for a non-tenure accruing three-year renewable Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Persian position. The position entails overseeing, staffing, and shaping the Persian program offerings under the oversight of the department chair; teaching courses on Persian language and literature in the original and in translation, and involvement with the Middle East Studies Program.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Minimum Qualifications:

All applicants must have PhD in hand in Persian or a closely related field, teaching excellence as demonstrated by course evaluation summaries, potential for strong record of scholarly publication as demonstrated by publications and research agenda, native or near native fluency in Persian as well as in English, and experience in use of instructional technology.
