The College of Professional Studies (CPS) at the George Washington University invites applications from qualified applicants for this full-time fiscal year faculty position as the Director of the MPS in Publishing Program at the rank of instructor, assistant or associate professor. This is a non-tenure-accruing, renewable faculty position offered with an initial appointment term of up to three years. Appointment can begin as early as July 1, 2018.
CPS's Publishing program is designed for current and aspiring professionals. Some students include post-bachelor and post-graduate students who have earned their degrees in other disciplines but desire careers in publishing. Current publishing professionals can sharpen their skills and expand their knowledge through high-level coursework. The master's degree in Publishing integrates traditional print with digital publishing topics, including editorial acquisitions, production and design, copyright law in print and cyberspace, marketing, distribution, management and business. Courses are taught by nationally and internationally recognized leaders in print and digital publication. The program offers two tracks: students can complete the program fully online or at the Graduate Education Center in Alexandria, VA, where classes are offered in the evenings.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching publishing-related courses at the graduate level at the Graduate Education Center in Alexandria, VA and online (no fewer than 12 credit-hours per year); advising students and managing enrollment; performing administrative duties related to the operation and marketing of the Publishing program; fostering the growth and visibility of the program; forming partnerships with local industry; and developing and implementing new initiatives.Minimum Qualifications:
