The College of Professional Studies (CPS) at the George Washington University invites applications from qualified applicants for this full-time fiscal year faculty position to oversee the MPS programs in Homeland Security and Cybersecurity Strategy and Information Management at the rank of assistant or associate professor. This is a non-tenure-accruing, renewable faculty position offered with an initial appointment term of up to three years. Appointment can begin as early as July 1, 2018.

CPS's MPS in Homeland Security provides a comprehensive, full field view of both current and emerging threats, as well as a cutting-edge graduate curriculum in homeland security studies that examines relevant national and information security policy and practices in the public and private sectors. Designed to prepare working professionals with experience in fields including law enforcement, emergency management, corporate security, public safety, public health preparedness and the military for future leadership positions, the program is taught by acknowledged experts who draw upon their firsthand practical knowledge and strategic expertise.

CPS's MPS in Cybersecurity Strategy and Information Management scrutinizes issues of law, policy and leadership expressly to create the next generation of cybersecurity's strategic leaders. Students learn from the field's top experts about the strategies and practices that protect critical information and make sure that the world's digital infrastructure remains secure.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will act as the Director of both Security MPS programs with the support of the Associate Program Director. Responsibilities include teaching security-related courses at the graduate level (no fewer than 12 credits per year) at the Graduate Education Center in Arlington, VA, Virginia Science and Technology Campus in Ashburn, VA, and online; advising students and managing enrollment; performing administrative duties related to the operation and marketing of the programs; fostering the growth and visibility of the programs; forming partnerships with local industry; and developing and implementing new initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have: 1) a terminal degree (e.g., JD or PhD) in Law, Social Sciences, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field by date of appointment; 2) demonstrated excellence in teaching both online and in class; 3) relevant professional experience and expertise; 4) demonstrated administrative/management experience; 5) experience with curriculum development.
