Job Description Summary:

The Physician Assistant Studies Department of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is currently seeking a Manager, Clinical Education Program for it's highly ranked Physician Assistant (PA) Program.

Responsibilities include providing leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the PA Program's clinical education program and supervised clinical practice experiences. The Manager, Clinical Education Program works closely with the PA Program Director and Director(s) of Clinical Education to ensure the excellence of the clinical educational experiences of its students.

Duties include:
-Provide administrative oversight for the day-to-day operation of the clinical phase of the PA Program curriculum;

-Supervise and evaluate 2 clinical placement coordinators;

-Oversee the execution of clinical affiliation agreements;

-In conjunction with the Director(s) of Clinical Education, identify, recruit and establish clinical partners and preceptors to provide supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPE) for PA students;

-Assure that clinical education sites provide the physical and educational experiences necessary to meet PA Program clinical educational goals as defined by the PA Program in keeping with the ARC-PA Accreditation Standards;

-Serve as the liaison between the PA Program and the clinical site administration to ensure compliance with clinical partner requirements for student placement;

-In conjunction with the Director(s) of Clinical Education
-evaluate the appropriateness of preceptors and clinical sites for meeting educational goals
-provide appropriate clinical education orientation to students
-analyze documentation related to student clinical performance
-coordinate and provide preceptor development training
-update and maintain the clinical year schedule, clinical guides, preceptor handbook, and patient logging and clinical site databases

-Participate in team meetings related clinical year issues and accreditation compliance;

-Collect, analyze and present data related to clinical year outcomes;

-Oversee completion of required documentation related to the day-to-day operation of the clinical phase of the PA Program curriculum;

-Coordinate student housing using local and distant vendors;

-Assist with coordination of end-of-rotation activities;

-Other clinical year and departmental duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's degree preferred, preferably with a record of clinical or professional, academic and administrative achievement;
2. Possess strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills;
3. Strong commitment to achieve the missions of the Physician Assistant (PA) Program and the School of Medicine and Health Sciences;
4. Candidate should have a willingness and ability to travel throughout the United States to visit and recruit clinical training sites.
