The George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-accruing, contract faculty position as the Director of the Security Policy Studies Program. This appointment will be for an initial term of three years, and may be renewed thereafter on a term basis. This position is expected to begin as early as Fall 2018. Salary and academic rank will be based on qualifications and experience. This position will be based in the Elliott School's Security Policy Studies Program and affiliated with the Elliott School's Institute for Security and Conflict Studies.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The appointed faculty member will direct a two-year M.A. degree program in security policy studies and advise students in related academic fields in other graduate programs. The director will also oversee curriculum development, organization, and evaluation; and develop research and conferencing activities. The director will also be expected to teach graduate level courses on national security issues, and conduct research and publish in scholarly or policy-related venues on international affairs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field at time of application; previous experience leading and managing academic programs; previous teaching at the Master's level; specialized expertise in security policy; and a track record of research and scholarship, reflected in scholarly or policy-oriented publications.
