The Community Coordinator (CC) develops and manages the Journey to Independence program in the Jeanne Mance complex, open to UVM students who have completed their 4 semester housing requirement, but are still interested in all that on-campus living has to offer. The Community Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing the programmatic vision for this community. Other duties will include: planning and facilitating events and programs focused around the theme of cultivating a sense of independence for post-collegiate life; coordinating service-learning and community service opportunities for students; serving as a liaison between Residential Life, the Career Center, the Office of Student and Community Relations (OSCR), UVM Dining and other University departments and community organizations; assisting with marketing; and establishing an environment that promotes student health, engagement, and success.
The Community Coordinator's goal is to instill respect and foster a sense of community that creates, promotes, and supports a socially just residential environment. Students, faculty, and staff are provided opportunities to understand, accept, and appreciate each other through various means including conversations, programming, advocacy, education, support, reflection, and relationship-building.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor's degree and one to three years' related experience required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment required.
