DIR, RESEARCH COSTING COMPLIANCE
Assoc VP RCC & Fed Reimbursement
The Director of Research Costing Compliance will be responsible for developing, implementing and oversight for compliance training and monitoring financial transactions related to research administration compliance to ensure Duke University is in compliance with all aspects of federal, state, and private funding entities' regulations and standards, and Duke Policy.
Provide expertise in the development, facilitation, coordination, delivery and project management of training and educational opportunities in areas related to research administration and financial research compliance for Duke University.
Develop and implement an educational, training and development model based on an approved RCC design to address university-wide needs in grant management.
Develop guiding principles, strategies and plans to support research administration training and associated infrastructure; conduct on-going needs assessments and help to establish education, training and development priorities based on evolving compliance requirements and available resources.
The RCC Monitoring Program constantly monitors the state of financial research compliance at Duke University. Through analysis of financial data and with input from the Management Centers, RCC Monitoring provides both targeted input and assistance in remediation of risk issues.
Support the MIR approach to monitoring. This includes:
Monitor: Assessment of Current Status through data collection and analysis
Integrate: RCC strives to integrate monitoring with measures that mitigate risk to Duke University. RCC therefore coordinates basic data monitoring with: Education and Training, Communication, Policy and Procedure review, & Review/Enhancement of System/Internal Controls.
Remediate: Achieved through regularly scheduled meetings with Management Centers, Enhanced reporting in response to Management Centers and RCC identified needs, Direct intervention in departments (answering departments' requests for training and clarifications), etc.
Design and/or coordinate the delivery of training programs, including conducting training in classroom settings, designing web-based/on-line training, and creating step-by-step manuals, videos, and other learning aids to support classroom initiatives.
Assist the AVP in developing and implementing special projects and initiatives related to financial research compliance.
Coordinate training programs and provide consultation to managers for development of job- specific/unit specific training.
Act as the liaison between the AVP/Compliance Officer and the Office of Audit & Compliance in support of Board of Trustee reporting.
Support the AVP in liaising with management centers and schools/institutes for addressing compliance and policy interpretation issues
Assist the AVP in policy development, interpretation and implementation.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

An advanced degree in a research administration, business administration, or a related field is required.
Position requires 10 years of experience. Demonstrated progressive leadership in managing/directing a research administration operation at the senior level is required. CRA is preferred.
