Responsibilities: Consult, train, support programs and users of multimedia technology, which includes faculty, staff, and students within the Trent Semans Center and other locations within the School of Medicine. This includes using applications and audio/visual technologies for example: Lecture Capture, Learning Management System, Coursera Support, and School of Medicine room media technologies. As well as, helping faculty identify and evaluate instructional software, for example when new instructional technology is developed, the educational technologist performs demonstrations on the usage of this technology to faculty and then provide support. The educational technologist will be innovative, strategic, and leverage technology to assist with building, developing, and facilitating a successful medical education program. Resources of Med Ed IT team provided. 50% Manage and maintain technology rich Trent Semans Center classrooms, conference rooms, lab rooms, Learning Hall, Great Hall and Amphitheater in Duke South. Provide technical support with the ability to assist with maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting instructional hardware and software. This includes troubleshooting for Faculty providing them with tools to enhance the learning experience. This includes testing, implementing and training other faculty to use various multimedia. 15% Develop and publish technology training, for example: How-to Tutorials for students regarding Email, Leaning Management System, Lecture Capture, and Technology Policies; for Admissions Department a tutorial for EASE; for faculty a How-to on Canvas; for the Financial Aid and Registrar Department procedure tutorial for their website; a How-to Tutorial for Room Scheduling. 15% Promote and provide expert knowledge specifically for Medical Students and Faculty in the use of learning technologies such as lecture capture, learning management system, media streaming, video conferencing, and web conferencing. 5% Research and advise on the use of new and emerging technologies throughout the School of Medicine through participating in Webinars, attending conferences, working with international agencies in order to share and promote the School of Medicine. 2.5% Develop budgetary recommendations to best use our funds for the School of Medicine owned IT/AV rooms to include: renovations and updates. 2.5% Attend meetings to discuss adverse and advantageous trends that may include representatives from DHTS and OIT. 2.5% Supervise 3 Work Study Students by providing daily tasks, review of work performed, and approval of electronic time cards. 1.0% Troubleshoot and provide Faculty with tools to enhance the learning experience. This includes testing, implementing and training other faculty to use the product. 2.5% Develop and facilitate a Duke University Enterprise wide User Group for Instructional Technologies such as Canvas and Mediasite to include: DHTS, Physician Assistant School, School of Nursing, Departments of Surgery, Radiology, and Simulation Labs, among other groups on campus. 2.0% Use analytics to advise on the use of Mediasite and Canvas to review best use as in, what content is being viewed, how it is obtained, peak views or time of views and what browser is being used. 1.0% Assist and advocate professional development for the AV Team, which currently includes: 2 Video Producer/Directors 1.0%

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires knowledge of computer-assisted instructional programs and materials normally acquired through a bachelors degree in educational media, instructional design or a related field.

Experience

Work generally requires three years experience in instructional design, instructional technology, multimedia technologies or a related area to acquire the ability to design and implement technology oriented educational programs or computer-assisted instructional programs. A masters degree in educational media, instructional design or a related field may be substituted for experience on a 1:1 basis. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
