Primary Function of Organization Unit: The College of Design offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate studies in architecture, art + design, graphic and industrial design, and graduate studies in landscape architecture through several degree programs, including the PhD. in Design.

Essential Job Duties: *This posting is for applicants internal to NC State University only.* The College of Design seeks an Associate Dean for Academic Programs. The position is a twelve-month tenured position at the professor level. The Associate Dean will report to the Dean of the College. The College of Design offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate studies in architecture, art + design, graphic and industrial design, and graduate studies in landscape architecture. It also offers the PhD in Design and the professional Doctor of Design. The Associate Dean reports directly to the Dean of the College, serves on the Dean's leadership team and on the College Administrative Council. The Associate Dean is also called on to represent the Dean to internal audiences, including University committees, functions and admissions processes. This individual will be delegated to lead special task forces related to issues emerging from the College Administrative Council. The Associate Dean is responsible to provide leadership for the following activities: - Coordinate faculty issues: * Development of graduate and undergraduate curriculum and certificate programs * Processes and actions of the College's Course and Curriculum Committee * Coordinate departmental Graduate Program Directors * Coordinate classroom and office facilities with College registrar and Director of the Materials Lab * Analyze and monitor faculty course loads and course and program delivery costs, and academic policies - Develop and maintain College policy manual including: * Visiting Scholar Program * Department head duties and deadlines * Faculty workload and classroom peer-review * Reappointment, promotion, and tenure procedures and post-tenure review procedures - Supervise the College's Student Services Office including: * Coordination of graduate and undergraduate recruitment and admissions * Coordinate Design Lab activities * Analyze student trend data, enrollment targets, and enrollment funding. * Analyze and monitor matriculation and graduation rates, employment data and national employment data - Coordinate College involvement in University committee, task forces and programs - Active involvement in teaching

Minimum Education/Experience: The Associate Dean position requires a terminal degree in one of the disciplines of the College (architecture, art and design, design studies, graphic design, industrial design or landscape architecture) with significant experience in education and practice. Individual must be a tenured faculty member with a record of distinguished faculty and administrative accomplishments. Other closely related disciplines may be considered.
