Department Overview
The University of North Texas Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency serving the University of North Texas (UNT) community, a 38,000 student public institution of higher education within the Dallas/Fort Worth region.

The UNT Police Department is among only 7% of law enforcement agencies nationwide to have earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). The UNT Police Department is additionally accredited by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). This dual accreditation helps to ensure the University of North Texas Police Department operates in accordance with over 500 best practice standards to offer the UNT community the highest level of professional law enforcement.

Job Description
The Police Services Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Public Service Officer to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

The Public Service Officer provides a wide variety of services to the UNT community. The Public Service Officer is service-oriented and non-combative and does not act as a law enforcement officer. Provides general support to the Police Department and is expected to report any situation requiring a
police response.

Some of the services provided may include:
* Securing buildings, conducting vehicle or foot patrol of campus.
* Providing escorts to students, staff and visitors as requested.
* Assist with vehicle jump-starts.
* Reporting theft, vandalism, unsafe acts, accidents, disturbances and property damage to Campus Police.

We intend for this position to be assigned to the UNT Discovery Park in Denton.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Some college and/or one full year of security experience.
* Good driving record.
